Two of the most beautiful stretches of Route 66 can be found in Arizona. The stretch from Seligman to Kingman, and the mountain road to Oatman. Also one of the most touristical attractions is located in Arizona, the Grand Canyon.

How long has it been since you slept in a wigwam? With this slogan the Wigwam Motel invites travellers to spend the night in one of the concrete wigwams.

Meteor Crater

Meteor Crater, also called Barringer Crater, is probably the best known impact crater in the world. About 50.000 years ago a 50m wide meteorite hit the earth, creating a crater of 1300m in diameter and 170m deep. Astronauts from NASA have trained in the crater for the moonlanding.

Seligman

A trip to Seligman is a trip back in time, to the time Route 66 was the Main Street of America. Already in 1920 Route 66 passed Seligman and after the interstate was built in the 70’s, the town survived. Angel Delgadillo managed to keep attracting visitors to Seligman. Angel was also one of the people that strived to protect Route 66 as Historic Highway. For lunch or dinner we recommend the Snowcap Drive-in or the Roadkill Cafe.

Oatman

Over 100 years ago Oatman was a mining town. In 1915 two prospecters found a gold vein worth 10 million dollar and within a year more than 3500 people came to the town. Oatman was named after Olive Oatman. She was once kidnapped by Apache Indians. In 1924 the last mine closed and the town survived by catering to travellers on Route 66. On the streets of Oatman you can still meet the offsprings of the burros that were used in the mines.
